Is window tinting legal in the UK?
Yes – window tinting is legal in the UK, but there are certain rules. The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through, and the front side windows must let at least 70% through. You can go darker on the rear windows and rear windscreen, as there are no restrictions there. At DropShade Tints, we make sure your tint stays 100% road legal and DVSA-compliant.
What are the darkest tints I can legally have on my car?
For the front windows, the legal limit is 70% light transmission, which means only a light to medium tint is allowed. However, for the rear windows and back windscreen, you can go as dark as you like – even limo black (5%). We’ll help you choose the perfect shade based on your style, purpose, and legal requirements.
How long does the tinting process take?
Depending on the vehicle and number of windows being tinted, the process usually takes 1.5 to 3 hours. We take our time to ensure a flawless finish, with zero bubbles, peeling or imperfections.
What’s the difference between the tint shades you offer?
Tint shades refer to how much light the film lets through. We offer a full range from light smoke (around 70%) to medium (35%) and dark (20% or less). The lower the percentage, the darker the tint. We’ll show you sample shades before installation so you can choose the perfect look, whether you want subtle privacy or full blackout styling.
Do you offer a warranty on your tints?
Yes – every tint job comes with a lifetime warranty against bubbling, fading, peeling, or discoloration. We stand by the quality of our work and the materials we use. If there’s ever an issue, we’ll sort it quickly and professionally, no questions asked.
Can the tint be removed in the future if needed?
Absolutely. Tint can be professionally removed without damaging your windows. Whether you want to go lighter, switch styles, or return the car to factory look, we can safely remove the film for you. It’s always best to let a professional handle it to avoid residue or scratched glass.
Will tinting affect my visibility at night?
Not with the right shade. We always recommend a balanced tint that gives privacy without compromising visibility. Darker tints can reduce visibility in low-light conditions, especially if your car already has factory tint. We’ll help you choose a shade that works best for both daytime style and nighttime safety.
Can you match factory tints or existing tints on the car?
We can closely match most factory tints. If your car already has rear factory-tinted windows and you’d like to match the front, we’ll show you the closest film available. Our wide selection of shades and finishes means we can achieve a consistent, seamless look.
Do I need to clean my windows before the appointment?
No need – we’ll handle all the prep. Every tint job starts with a deep clean of the glass to ensure perfect adhesion. That said, if your car is particularly muddy or dusty, giving it a quick rinse helps us get straight to work and saves time on-site.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major forms of payment including cash and bank transfer. We currently do not accept card payments. Payment is taken after the job is complete and you're 100% satisfied with the result.
